Spring Cleaning Tips for the Busy Mom
It’s that time of year again! The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and everyone’s favorite task—spring cleaning—is upon us.
If you’re like most moms, the thought of deep cleaning your home from top to bottom can be daunting. Let’s change it this year with these spring cleaning tips for busy moms that will make the whole process easier and a lot less work.
These easy spring cleaning tips will have your home in tip-top shape in no time.
We’re here to help with our top 5 spring cleaning tips that will make the process a breeze.
1: Create a Plan of Attack
The first step to conquering any large task is to break it down into smaller, manageable pieces.
When it comes to spring cleaning, this means creating a cleaning schedule that covers every nook and cranny of your home.
A spring clean is just a deep clean, so make a list and start scheduling those extra cleaning tasks into your planner.
It’s more about setting realistic timings for your cleaning sessions than hoping you will get your whole spring cleaning done in an hour, it’s not going to happen!
2: Set Time Goals For Cleaning
There is so much to do when it comes to spring cleaning that we can often forget that it takes longer or we just haven’t planned enough time to do the tasks involved.
Get in the habit of timing yourself for the tasks that you do, this will give you insight into the time it’s going to take and then you can plug these timings into your day because you know how long each task will take.
Once you know how long a task takes to do you can easily use this information and plan it into your day. No more guessing how long something is going to take, you will already know it!
3: Set a “No Neglect” Zone For Those Neglected Areas
One of the benefits of having a plan is that it allows you to be intentional about which areas of your home get the most attention.
If there are certain areas that tend to get neglected during regular cleaning, make those your priority during spring cleaning.
This could be something like deep-cleaning the fridge or giving the windows a clean.
Whatever it is, making these neglected areas a priority will help you feel like you’ve really accomplished something when you’re finished.
If you know the areas that get neglected the most maybe think about getting someone else in the family to take over that task, if no one wants it, consider hiring the task out to a company to complete.
4: Get the Whole Family Involved With The Cleaning
Cleaning the house is a lot easier—and more fun—when everyone pitches in.
Nothing like having the work cut because there are other people who are pitching in and helping!
Creating a plan that gets the house cleaned and everyone in it sharing the cleaning is a win in anyone’s eyes.
Assign tasks based on age and ability, then get cleaning!
But don’t stop there, if they live there they should take on some cleaning responsibilities too, create a chore chart and get those tasks shared with everyone who lives in the home.
You may even find that your kids enjoy helping out more than you thought they would.
Don’t forget to reward them for their hard work with some quality family time when you’re done.

5: Invest in Some Good Tools
Let’s face it, cleaning is a lot more fun when you have the right tools for the job.
A few must-haves for every mom’s spring-cleaning arsenal include:
- a good vacuum cleaner
- a steam cleaner (for those hard-to-reach places), and
- plenty of microfiber cloths
- a mop and bucket
- window cleaning cloths
- multipurpose cleaner so you can use it in different areas of your home
- Polish
These will help you tackle even the most challenging cleaning tasks with ease.
Bonus: Take Some Time for Yourself
Cleaning can be tiring, so make sure to schedule some time for yourself throughout the process.
You have to look after yourself too, it’s so easy to get caught up in what needs doing and putting your own needs last, I get it, I’ve done it for many years. Now, my health and well-being come first.
Whether it’s taking a few minutes to relax in a freshly cleaned room or indulging in a post-cleaning treat, taking care of yourself will help you stay motivated and focused on the task at hand.
By following these simple tips, you’ll be able to tackle spring cleaning like a pro!
Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be overwhelming!
