Creating A Command Center
You need a central point in your home that controls all the areas in a workable routine. Do you have a place that allows you to pull everything together for your family or you might need to create one?
You can buy command centers already made or you can design one yourself, I have a chalkboard for any notes for the family and everything is plugged into our calendars.
The idea behind a command center is simple, it’s a place where you gather stuff to communicate with the rest of your family about what is happening and what needs to happen in the future.
It’s about creating a place where every family member knows to look for tasks and events that are happening. A family command center is so important to successful home management.
Successful Home Management
When it comes to managing your home you need to create a plan that everyone can follow and know and understand why it’s important to take the steps that each family member needs to take.
There are a lot of different areas that all fall under the umbrella of home management so, the more people that can help with the different tasks the easier it’s going to be.
However, it is possible to do all these things without help but you will need to be super organized and on top of all tasks.

Creating Routines
The best way to get everything done is to create routines and plans for those less frequent tasks you have to do.
You can even get older children involved in a lot of activities to help around the home. If you are going to pay your children for the tasks they do then it’s important to ensure that they are following through with the chores they are being paid to do.
Routines are great, they allow you to work through tasks in a way that helps you accomplish the same tasks on repeat and without thinking about what needs doing.
You can create a daily routine and a weekly routine to do different tasks around your home. It is like creating a system that you follow and do everything that it tells you.
You can get chore charts for children so they can tick off the work that they do, you could even do that for adults if that inspires them to do the tasks.
What To Include In Your Routines
Simply put, as much as possible. The more you can normalize the tasks that you do and that you need to do to keep the home running like a well-oiled machine.
So, you might need different lists for the different tasks you need to do, the more often you do things the easier they will become and they will also take less time to complete.
You might have a list for cleaning and who is responsible for what task, but you also might have more than one cleaning list as some tasks are done more than others.
Everyone should be able to add items to the grocery list, so when the designated person goes shopping they know what’s needed. Obviously, use the list and make a meal plan and then work out the items you need in the grocery store.
Home finances are important too, the more you can manage your money the better position you will be in financially. It makes sense to watch the pennies.

Plan For The Less Frequent Tasks Too
When it comes to home management there are some aspects that aren’t required as often as in other areas and that’s because having an organized home means taking care of all the little things that need doing at some point in the year.
For example, there are seasonal tasks that you will need to complete that aren’t going to be done out of season and that’s why for me having a list of the tasks that need to be done during a particular season is so important.
Running a home is like being a business owner, there are so many activities that you need, and the important part is knowing what is a high priority and when it needs doing.
Don’t leave anything to chance. If you use a paper planner or a digital planner have all the information that you need to take care of all the different aspects of your home so that it functions and functions well.
Have A Clear Goal For Your Home
People all live their own lives and this means that your home doesn’t have to look like your neighbours or your best friends. Good household management comes from having a tidy home that is well-maintained. How it looks to others isn’t important as how it feels to you and your family.
It has to be clean enough for everyone’s standards who live there and tidy enough so you can find things and you and your family are happy with. It needs to meet the needs of your family and you need to maintain it so it continues to look and feel like a place you can live with.
We all have to work and fitting in the needs of the family is important too, there are only a set number of hours in the day. As long as you live in a clean home and you are happy with how it feels then don’t think you have to do more to live up to the images you see on social media.
Home Management Skills
You are going to be better at some things than others, and you are going to enjoy different tasks than other members of your family and this is why it’s important that you share the good and the bad tasks.
We don’t live in a world where tasks need to be gender-specific so go with what you are good at and work from there. Think about your family’s needs and the specific tasks that family members can do.
But don’t stop there, training your children in home management skills is important, you want them to be able to manage their own homes when they get older.
Younger children too can learn skills that why will allow them to go in the right direction when they get older and can take a bigger part of the cleaning routine or even take over the family’s lawn care.

Simple Home Management Tips
You have to have everyone helping around the home, there is a lot to do if one person is responsible for the whole process of home management.
But having the strategies in place and knowing what needs to happen when it comes to feeding the family healthy meals or cleaning up the living spaces is going to save you time and heartache.
It is a bit like having a business plan for your home. One key area is having a command center, a place where your family all know where to look for the things they need to do.
The best thing for a home management system is to work it and then when you come up with a problem is to take the time and work out how to move forward.
Having a happy home life for everyone who lives there is a must and the important first step is writing down all the tasks and sharing them with the family so it’s not all left to one person.
