Staying organized is important if you want to be able to be productive in your life and it will also help with your mental well-being. Check out these 5 tips to help you stay organized. There are so many ways to get organized at home that it can seem overwhelming and not something you would do.
However, because there are so many different ways you can get organized means there is going to be a way that works with you and how you think.
Having actionable tips and ideas is going to make life so much easier as you work out what works for you.

1. Start With A Clear Plan
If you have nothing to follow you aren’t going to reach the path you intend to arrive at. You have to know what you are aiming for and the journey that is going to take you there.
I don’t set annual goals or even New Year resolutions because they aren’t really a plan that I can follow. I start with quarter goals, 12 weeks and that’s as far as it goes because I don’t know what’s happening a year from now.
But for these plans to work you need to have weekly and daily plans too. This is where you break up the bigger tasks so you can work on them as the weeks progress.

Tools To Consider For Planning
There are so many different options for tools to use when it comes to planning that I thought we could look at a few of them.
- Paper-based planner, I use a plan notebook and write the dates in myself so it meets my needs. It’s simple but effective.
- Google Calendar is what my husband uses, he doesn’t like to write things down he likes to be able to open his phone and know what’s on his calendar for the day.
- You can get AI-based apps that can help you create the order in which you need to do the tasks, the best one is Motion.
- How about creating a database that holds this information? Check out Notion because this is basically a way to create a database for anything you want.

Prioritizing The Tasks You Need To Do
The way you write down your task list isn’t going to be the exact way you should tackle the tasks each day unless you are using an AI-based planner because it’s already worked out the order.
You need to read your list and work out what are the most important tasks needed for that day. These are the tasks to do first.
Depending on your planner, you could move them to the appropriate time if you are using an electronic planner or you could just number them with the task order.
2. Declutter Your Space
The things that sit in front of you can distract you from the tasks you need to do. Decluttering your space can help you focus on the tasks instead of thinking about the next thing you see.
Clutter can have an impact on how you feel and this does impact your mental health.
There are a lot of different ways to declutter the space you are in, here are a few suggestions:
- For every item you bring into the home you have to get rid of an item you already have.
- Set a timer for 15 minutes and collect as many items as you can that need to go.
- Have a set time each week for a decluttering session and have a plan as to how much needs to go.
- Follow a challenge that encourages you to get rid of a number of items over a particular period of time.

Using organizing tools can help you keep your home clutter-free. They help you to put things away when you have finished with them. Or, have a set place to put items you no longer want or need.

3. Consistent Routines And Sytems
Having routines that you follow daily will help you keep organized and on task. Simple routines that you do in the morning and in the evening can make all the difference in keeping organized at home.

A simple system could be what you do when mail arrives at your home that you follow to help you deal with important things and to get rid of the rubbish you don’t need.
Routines and systems will save you time because you will do things quicker over time and this will help keep your home organized and working well.
4. Using The Right Tools For You
If you want to stay organized you need to have a selection of tools that you use to help you perform these tasks. Having the right tools for the task is essential.

Knowing what you need depending on the task and the availability of those tools is key to a successful project. So, always know what you will need to do a task and have it prepared will make it easier and less stressful.
5. Regularly Review Your Systems And Adjust
As with anything in life as time goes by your needs and wants change and that can mean what you need to do changes. Your systems aren’t set in stone so making changes to meet your current needs is so important.
