Oven Cleaning Tips
Cleaning the oven is one of my least favourite jobs but I make it easier by tackling it on a regular basis. This means that there is less to do and it can be relatively easy to clean.
- I wipe down the outside of the oven each time the hob is used; this keeps the build-up of dirt and grime on the outside to the minimum. With the hob being a ceramic top, it is quick to clean with a cleaner designed for the task.
- The inside of the oven cleaned by wiping down any spills, but only when they have cooled down. For the cleaning of the inside I put it into my cleaning schedule, for me it is a job that I hate and is therefore only scheduled once every eight to ten weeks.
I am used to cleaning an oven to extremely high standards. I no longer need the oven to be that clean now that we are no longer living in rented accommodation, but I do like it to be clean. There is a difference between spotless and clean and I think I have found the happy medium between the two.
Oven Cleaning Tips
Wiping out the bottom of the oven keeps the floor of the oven clean from spills, if you put a tray in the bottom once it is cleaned this will catch any future spills and avoid the need for more deep cleaning.
Using a cleaning cloth that has the rough edge that allows the removal of stains from your shelves is going to make the job quicker, especially if you are keeping on top of your oven cleaning.
I have a movable oven and I like to pull the oven out and clean behind and underneath the oven to keep the floor clean from any spills. This happens when I do my kitchen floor cleaning scrub, which is on a different time scale to the oven cleaning because I dislike doing the jobs; I just don’t like them to fall on the same day or even the same week.
Oven cleaning service
It is possible to pay for an oven cleaning service; they will come into your home and clean your oven for you. This allows you not worry about the oven because you are paying someone else to clean it for you. However, I would have longer than eight to ten weeks in between the cleaning with once or twice a year for the service.
It will also depend on the company as to the chemicals that they are going to be using to cleaning your oven. For me after spending many years cleaning my oven with chemicals to get it perfect I have decided to have the less harmful chemicals. I might have one or two spots, which aren’t as clean, but I know that my health hasn’t suffered by breathing in some of the very strong chemicals that are used in some of the oven cleaning products.
Cleaning more frequently reduces the amount of time that it takes to clean the oven; for me I want it completed within half an hour and this is possible if you clean it regularly.
