Artificial Flowers: How To Use Them
If you are looking for that impact, fresh flowers can have to a room without the fuss that real flowers can have, from needing to remember to keep the water fresh to changing them regularly as they quickly die. Changing to artificial flowers might be the answer you are looking for; it can save you money long-term and they can look great all year round and not have a negative impact on hay fever sufferers. I love the smell and the look of fresh flowers in my home, but unfortunately, both my husband and daughter have hay fever and the odd times I have brought fresh flowers they’ve been banished to the furthest corner of the house and I really don’t get to appreciate them.
How To Display Artificial Flowers
Artificial flowers are so versatile, you can purchase them individually or already in a vase ready for display. Think carefully about the option you intend to choose, there are advantages and downsides to these options and it will depend on what you are looking for as to the option you choose.
If you buy artificial flowers that are in a vase you will have to like the display for as long as you have them, you can’t change the flowers around if you decide that you want something different. Therefore, while you have the flowers perfectly arranged in the vase, this is all that you are able to do, you can display it in different areas of your home, but ultimately you get stuck with that one design. As tastes change, you might find that after a period, you dislike the display or the vase and you will have to consider donating the item or selling it.
If you buy individual flowers, this is more expensive but you can arrange them how you want and in what order you want. Then when you get bored with the arrangement, you can change it, making these the easy option if you like to have things different.
Taking Care Of Artificial Flowers
If you have artificial flowers in your home, they can and do look great if you keep them clean and dust free. There is nothing worse than seeing a cobweb on artificial flowers it makes it even more obvious that they are not real.
It is easy to keep these flowers clean if you include them in your weekly cleaning schedule. There are a number of different ways that you can clean artificial flowers.
- Use salt, place it in a bag and immerse the artificial flower into the salt gently, close the bag and gently shake, brush off the loose salt and the flower head is clean.
- Use a soft brush like a make-up brush to brush the dust and dirt away.
- Turn them upside down in a pillowcase and just knock the dust off, putting them inside a pillowcase protects the dust from flying off around your room, you can empty the dust easily from the pillowcase.
- Use a microfiber cloth to dust the flowers; this is my least favourite method and I feel that it is the least effective at cleaning them.
Artificial flowers are great. They can cheer up any room and the choice available is fantastic. It will depend on where you live as to the best location to shop for these, but they are widely available, price will also depend on your location.
Therefore, if you are looking for an alternative to fresh-cut flowers, don’t assume that artificial flowers aren’t up to a great standard and they can easily fool people into believing they are real.
We pretty much always have artificial flowers. I hate it when real flowers always die right away. What a waste!
Thanks for visiting Brittany:)
I love that you give instructions on how to keep them clean. The pillowcase option is my favourite.
Thanks for visiting, this option works best for me too!
