Letting go of the thoughts and feelings surrounding some items might make you think twice about letting go.
However, the more stuff you have the more you have to clean and find homes for.
The mental clutter is those emotions that we push down and hide, the pain they can make us feel is real, learning to let go of this can make you feel better.
It is hard to let go of emotions that have torn you in half!
The emotions that can make you cry at the mention of a name.
The negativity that creeps into your mind and that tries to control you, even hold you back.
These are all clutter that you need to let go, you are not letting go of the memories just the pain they cause on the inside, it is about forgiveness and often it is all you need to forgive.

The Benefits Of Clutter Reduction
There are many benefits of letting go of clutter:
- Less to clean and keep tidy
- Less stress and worry
- The feeling of being proud, letting go of things
- The releasing of emotions
- You have space for the things that you love and that you want to keep
- Reduction of mental clutter means better sleep
Clearing your clutter is not a job you should rush, however, there are instances where you think you are sorting your clutter but you are just moving it from one place to another.
This isn’t actually clearing the clutter and will not reduce the stress, it can even increase the stress because you are so concerned about letting things go.
When you start to see the benefits of letting the clutter go, it will make you feel better too.
I’m not suggesting that you should live the minimalist lifestyle, but we do live in a society that wants and needs everything and at the expense of using some form of credit.
If you don’t have a home for all your possessions it might be time to get rid of some, find them a new home.
You have options with physical clutter you can put these in the trash or you sell or recycle the item perhaps at a charity shop.
Reducing the amount of possessions that you have will reduce the stress that you feel, cleaning will be easier and even letting go of mental clutter is great for feeling better in yourself too.
Don’t think of clutter as just being physical objects clear your clutter from your brain too!
An idea to help clear the clutter!
Sharon, I’ve certainly found it to be true, the more clutter I let go, the better I feel.
Your comments are so true. I must learn to let go of grudges held – many for several years! When I think of them they eat me up.
They are the worst things to hold on to! 🙂
Letting the past go is healthy for the future!!!! If it hasn’t changed by now it never will!!!! LET GO/ LIVE LONGER…..
So true Claudia!
