Have I Lost Control Of My Wardrobe Organization
Don’t worry I don’t want you to panic for me just yet! However, I wanted to show you that whilst I am a perfectionist at heart my home isn’t always perfect, there are some areas that I have let slip or I want to change the way something works, because for some reason it has stopped working in my home. As I mention often, if something stops working then change it, look at the different options and decide what will work best for you. There are no rules that tell you that you must organize in any particular way, you just have to find a system, which works and for me my wardrobe organization wasn’t working.
My Wardrobe Chaos
While I am not proud of the mess that has hidden in my wardrobe, in some ways I know why it is there! I have had issues with my weight and I had lost complete interest in how I look and feel. This then effects my moods and I have even less desire to make an effort and the result is a complete dislike of how I look and feel.
I’m pleased to say that I am feeling better and with a change in my moods, it has allowed me to take stock of how I have allowed my wardrobe to get in a right mess.
There is even dust on some of my coat hangers and this really makes me feel like I have neglected this for too long. The shelf is full with jumpers and a raincoat, the floor is a pile of dusty shoes and dried up mud, all this has to change but I also need to change how I feel about me to ensure that this doesn’t get this bad again.
The Wardrobe Transformation
As you can see it has had a complete transformation:
- I have taken out items that don’t fit.
- I have taken out my winter clothes sorted through them and stored the items I want to keep in vacuum-sealed bags.
- I have cleaned the inside and the outside of the wardrobe and noted a scratch that needs repairing.
- The shoes got cleaned and any I don’t wear regularly are now boxed up to prevent dust and stored in a different location, after all this wardrobe isn’t very big.
I know what clothes I need, items that I need to replace and this is great because I can look for these when I get a chance.
How To Prevent This Wardrobe Chaos From Returning
I know how I feel inside reflects on how I present myself on the outside. I don’t work outside the home so I don’t need any fancy work clothes but I do want to feel good and just putting on any jeans and a top doesn’t inspire me to feel great.
Therefore, whilst I don’t need to dress up, I also don’t need to live in jeans for the summer. Before I got married, I never even owned a pair of jeans or trousers for that matter.
Those women who choose to only just wear skirts inspire me and for many years, this was me. I wonder why I changed, was it because it was easier being a mum? I am not sure, but I am going to make more of an effort to look for skirts when I am out shopping for clothes. I am not restricting myself to skirts all the time, as I do like to wear jeans when I walk the dogs, but if they make me feel more feminine they might boost my confidence as I lose weight too.
Therefore, my plan to stop a wardrobe catastrophe happening again is to ensure that I start feeling good about myself and this will encourage me to take more notice of how I look and feel. Positive thoughts about me will allow me to implement a cleaning regime in relation to keeping on top of my wardrobe.

I need to do some of this as well.
Great job!
Thank you 🙂
I know I don’t wear skirts a lot anymore because of a few things, The need for comfy shoes since I injured my foot being one. The fact that my legs almost always need some dilatory action. The dogs, for some reason they think it’s ok to put their head in places they ought not to. And sadly, because skirts and my chaotic home have not been a good mix. Wearing skirts and feeling feminine again are on my agenda. Not today though, it’s too cold! I hope you do wear skirts and dresses more. I hope we both make more of an effort in the future.
Hi! Visiting from Monday Madness Link Up. I just had this experience recently as well when I used the KonMari Method to go through my clothes – only keeping the things that I loved and knew I would wear. It helps me now too as I wear things and notice little things that bother me – they go into the donation pile. It does make a big difference to only keep and wear things that fit you and make you feel good in the present.
Thank you for your kind words 🙂 It is important to feel good about ourselves 🙂
Thank you for visiting 🙂 It is so important to actually like the clothes you own because it won’t inspire you if you hate them 🙂
Last year I gave my closet a overhaul. Great job gaining control of your wardrobe. Thank you for linking up at #HomeMattersParty this week. I hope you will come back next week to link up again.
Thank you for your kind words:) I will be back 🙂
