8 Steps To Become More Organized
Being organized is a way of life, it is less stressful if things get done in a certain order, or just not being late for appointments. Living an organized life is not confining but freeing; you no longer have to worry about the details because you automatically do these on a daily basis. Getting to the point where you need more organization is a cry for help, you need to change before you break and often it is very simple to shift over to a more organized life than you could imagine.
8 Steps To A More Organized Life
- The most important thing to do is to write things down, if you’ve an appointment, you must write it down; this is in either a paper planner or an electronic planner, but the more you record details the less likely you are to forget.
- Create schedules for your day and give yourself deadlines that you must not let slip, if you allow deadlines to pass, they will be meaningless. Put in travel time for appointments, and be realistic of what you can actually accomplish within the time given.
- Make a point of looking for clutter, it can appear without you realizing and it can start to take over. Clutter is a physical item or even too much to think about. By getting rid of this clutter, I am not suggesting you need to throw everything out; it is about putting things away, emptying our brains to allow time to think.
- This leads on very nicely to give everything a home, don’t let items in your home not have a place where they belong. If you buy something new then maybe to fit that in you have to let something go, this is difficult and it can really make you think if you need that new item. Just keep the items that you need and like, it is not about a minimalist life style but not having excessive items, which you really don’t need.
- Simplify your life as much as possible; the less you have to do the easier it is to organize. If you spend too much time rushing around in the morning, get things prepared the night before. Think about how you can reduce the pressure and the stress at those difficult points and work out a way that will reduce the stress and simplify your life.
- If you can delegate, it is a great skill to learn. By getting others to help will make your life easier, sometimes you do have to lower your standards but that is fine, you don’t need everything perfect, being organized isn’t perfection. Striving for perfection isn’t going to make getting organized possible, you have to let the thought of wanting perfection to go, it is going to make you do things obsessively and that isn’t being organized.
- Be adaptable, it is a skill that I would love to master, I am not very good with last-minute plan changes, they panic me. I would love to swap things around without worry and that is something that I am trying hard to work on, it is going to take time for me but it is a challenge that I am willing to try.
- You are in control of your own life and your own destiny, make the choices that make you happy and make your life easier. Don’t take on more than you can manage and remember to do one thing at a time.
If you think that being organized is difficult, it isn’t, it is about taking your time, planning your schedule and putting things away. It is relatively simple once you get the hang of it.
I am going to make a note of the 8 headings to motivate me a bit more. Many thanks.
You are so welcome 🙂 Thanks for visiting 🙂
This is a great list! I’m looking for ways to do more delegating. My four-year-olds like to help out, so I’m trying to find things for them to “help out” with. Thanks for the great ideas. 🙂
Thank you for your kind words and for visiting 🙂 hope to see you back soon 🙂
Adaptable and control are antonyms in my book. i am working on getting rid of as much stuff as possible though! Thanks for hosting Monday madness!
Such a great list! I completely agree with #1. If I don’t write it down, I forget. Writing it down is such a simple way to remember!
I do need to get better with schedules though. As best as I can with 2 little ones. 🙂
You are welcome 🙂 Have a great week 🙂
Thank you for your kind words! I have a terrible memory, or I think I do and I panic that I will forget it and it makes me more stressed! 🙂
I use my iphone for all my appointments, without the reminders going off I would forget one of the kids at school. I just have not managed to get rid of the clutter yet. With so many kids if I had to pick up everything that they just put down I would never get anything else done. It seems to get a little bit better when they are older, but I’ve given up. I would love to have a better plan than just waiting for them to grow up though. Thank you for hosting Monday Madness.
I hate to say that is doesn’t get easier when they get older! LOL Thanks for visiting and linking up with Monday Madness 🙂
I really agree in your tip #1, our mind is limited, most of the time we forgot something, so the best practice to do first is to write down anything about what need to organize – jenny
Thank you for your kind words! 🙂
