Stresses At Home
It might not feel real that there are times when you don’t want to go home; it is not about wanting to party or rebel, like when you were a child but a genuine feeling of dread the moment you walk through the door.
A number of reasons can cause these feelings, from not wanting to deal with a relationship situation to wishing someone else would realise the house needs a clean.
However, it is important that you face up to the fears and work out what is wrong, only then are you able to look objectively as to the problem and how it can be addressed.
If it relates to money, then you need to consider the amount of money coming in and then work out how much you and your family are spending. Ideally, you should have money left, or at least breaking even. Often when there is stress involved with money, there is often a problem or a concern that you are afraid to discuss. Whilst it is difficult, it is better to face up to any problem and work out steps to put it right before it gets even more complicated.
Helping to deal with stress at home
There are ways in which you can help and support family members who are having a difficult time:
- Be supportive, you might just want to tell them to ‘pull it together’ but this advice is not helpful.
- Be flexible, show that you can help and being flexible within reason shows that you are there to help and support them through a difficult period.
- Seek help, it is important if you feel this family member needs more help than you can give, then you need to talk to them to seek help from their doctor.
It is important that you face the issues which want to keep you from enjoying your home, it might be a number of different reasons but dealing with them before they fester any longer will mean that you are facing those fears head on. You are not letting them take control of how you feel, it can mean the end of a road for a relationship or the need to discuss your family finances, whatever is increasing the stress you feel you need to discuss it.
Leaving stress unchecked
Stress has a negative impact on your health. It can even take you to depression, and believe me it is a difficult road to recovery. However, taking those first steps to a happier home life is worth it, there is nothing worse than sitting and stewing over thoughts and feelings around on the inside, because they can become bigger problems to deal with than they actually are.
Learn to deal with the point of tension, note how and what you say will have an effect on another person, taking into consideration how they will feel is important.
Communication is the key to a successful home life, if you reduce the stress at home, it can have a positive impact on other areas of your life too.
Therefore, if you feel that you need to discuss an issue that is affecting how you feel about going home, then it is important to face facts. You do need somewhere you can go to relax and unwind, having a stressful home life makes this difficult; reducing the stress will make your home more enjoyable for you.
