Depression And Anxiety With Sleep
What is so annoying with depression and anxiety, whilst I can lay for hours a night awake, during the day I am so tired that the only way I can function is occasionally I have to take a nap during the day.
I am so thankful that I work from home, those good days when I don’t need to nap are awesome! However, those days when I can’t function do occur and for me, it means that I need to get some much-needed rest and take a nap to get through the day!
Yet, other days I can fall asleep at a reasonable time and still feel that I need more sleep, I just don’t feel that I have had my full requirement of sleep!
What Lack Of Sleep Does To A Person
The concept for me for not sleeping was foreign, it was not something I had ever had to contemplate and then suddenly, I was lying awake till all hours of the night and having naps during the day!
I have taken medication in the past to help me sleep, but I knew this wasn’t a long-term option, I needed to find other methods, not only to help me sleep but to help me sleep better!
If you’re tired, it can make you less able to concentrate, you can become moody and irritable, not someone who you really want to spend time with!
It is hard not being able to drift off to sleep, a child learns the techniques of self-soothing to drift off to sleep, but as adults, we should know how to do this on our own!
How I Deal With Sleep
I know that I am not going to sleep early, it helps that I can work from home, it can give me something to do in the middle of the night! However, I know this isn’t good for my health, or my mind.
I have used a sleep aid, someone talking in relaxing tones, to help send me off to sleep for a few years now!
Using S+ By ResMed

You might wonder how this helps me? It monitors my sleep, technology and science has come that far, it can tell by breathing what sleep cycle I am in, how much I wake up during the night and the length of time it takes me to fall asleep.
Not only do I have this information, it tells me how much sleep my body got and quality of sleep. This information compared to other people my age to see if my sleep is in need of improvement.
Each day I get a message, these contain great tips to help me improve my sleep and to find ways in which I can improve the most important areas, like getting enough sleep!
