A debt management plan is where you can do this buy yourself, or use a company to help you. You will work out a payment plan and work at paying the debts that you owe over a period of time. If you go to a company they will charge you for the service.
You will pay the company a set amount each month and they will forward this onto your creditors. If they are late with a payment it is not them that will get a negative mark in their credit file, it will affect you. It is important that you research the company to make sure they are a reputable company to work with.
Debt Consolidation
This option allows you to put your debts into a new debt; this can be a great way to get a new loan at a cheaper price. If the amount that you are being offered is higher than your present monthly payments, it might not be the solution for you.
How you deal with your debt is going to depend on your own personal circumstances. But it is important that you take action sooner rather than later.
