Storage Solutions You Need
If you are increasingly frustrated with the storage solutions that you currently have and wished that you had the perfect answer for all your items that you have yet to find a home for, you might be surprised at my suggestion for your storage solutions. It is not about spending more money to buy the latest storage unit or the prettiest toy box, but look at what you have, the space available and working out what suits your needs.
Not Enough Storage Solutions
While you might think you need more storage, what you might really need is less stuff to find homes for; if you sold some items or gave them to charity then you might have the room you require.
It is looking at what you have and finding the right solution for you. It might even be possible to make some money from the de-cluttering. If you consider making space for the items that you want to keep, get rid of the items that you no longer need or want, gives you the opportunity to save money, which you might have otherwise spent on new storage solutions that you didn’t need.
With the money that you make from the selling of these items, you can use to pay down debt or to save for an item that you do want and need. Sometimes, if you are selling items that you have purchased for your children you might feel uncomfortable spending the money you make, you can use this money to purchase new items when it is their birthday or Christmas, saving you money, too.
The more items you have, the less you tend to use them; they can become more of a burden as you have to clean and look after these items. Having less is not about becoming a minimalist but more about knowing the amount of items that you actually need, rather than having items that you just don’t need.
Re-purpose Items For Storage Solutions
It is possible to use items that you already have which, you could turn into something new and something you need. If you have toys which you need a toy box for, you don’t need to go out and buy an expensive toy box, try re-purposing a cardboard box that you already have at home. If you want to make it pretty, then cover it in wrapping paper. If it breaks, it doesn’t matter because it didn’t cost you any money. It is possible to make magazine storage solutions from cereal boxes too.
It is important that you are not purchasing storage solutions with the intention that it will solve problems due to having too much stuff. If you think that a new toy box will encourage children to tidy up, you will be wasting your money; it is about teaching your children how to tidy away when there finished playing. It is the same with other items around your home, you actually have to put these items away or they will end up in different areas of your home and you will have wasted the money spent on a new storage solution that doesn’t work.

Therefore, before you look into purchasing storage solutions that you think you need, you might first want to take a look at the items you already have to see if you could get rid of a few, either selling them, donating them to charity or if they are poor quality, throwing them away. You might be surprised at not needing to buy more storage solutions; you just might need less stuff in your home. Less stuff means less to clean and look after too.
This is EXACTLY what I do and what I try to encourage my readers to do as well! Great post:)
