Do you ever complain and wish you had more time in the day to get stuff done? Have you ever wished for more time to do the things that you enjoy rather than doing everything else?
The problem you are facing is a lack of organizing your time, you might find that you are wasting time too.
It is amazing how quickly you can lose an hour or two just surfing the web and not really doing anything productive! I know, I have been there too!
With a little thought and planning, it might, actually, be possible to get all the things you need to do complete and have time for yourself too!
Having a plan is a great way to look at what time you have spare and how best you can use that time.

This is more difficult as people have different ways to organize their lives, what works for one person mightn’t work for the next person. It depends on a number of different factors, including the fact that people are all individual, with their own likes and dislikes.
You should find a system that works for you! Don’t be disheartened if the first time you try to plan your week, that it doesn’t go as planned!
You must give each system you try, time; but when you find a great one you will know!

- Electronic planner, if you like using your phone then this could work great for you. There are loads of free planning apps you can try!
- Paper planner, for me, this is a must, I have tried electronic planners and they just don’t work as well in my opinion!
However, the selection doesn’t stop there! You can then break down these two starting points into a really large expanse of different variations of planners.
But, they all work on similar principles, you need to record details. You need to schedule appointments and other commitments and what you need to do.
The most important aspect of planning your week is to check what you need to do and when. You actually need to use the planner, keep referring to it and using it to record more information, for the planner to work.
Planning Your Week Ahead
The time that you spend planning your week is so important, it will allow you to see what you need to do and when. It is often better to put the more difficult and challenging tasks at the beginning of the week, that way if anything does need to slip you have tackled the important stuff already!
Planning shouldn’t take more than about 20 – 30 minutes, a good option is to limit the amount of tasks that you plan to tackle in any one day!
My maximum that I will tackle is 10, for me to actually accomplish this I need a relatively quiet day! Therefore, if I know there is a lot of disruption happening, I cut my planned tasks down to around 5 -7.
If I manage to get things complete I can always find other tasks that need doing or I can opt for some quality me time!
It is so easy to over or underestimate the length of time something is going to take. For this reason, I like to have breaks built into my schedule. A reward, for sticking to the plan!
Creating Time For Emergencies
You know that even with the best-laid plans, something can and will happen to turn your world upside down!
Having time built into your week for emergencies, or for those times when you just need some extra time!
This is where you can find that extra time if you don’t need it for emergencies, it is great for creating a buffer of time.
Routines Create Order
While it is sometimes great just doing what you want and when building routines into your day will help you to do tasks on autopilot.
The best time for routines is in the morning and evening before bed. You can have other routines throughout the day, but if you have a set schedule to do when you get up and before bed, it can really help to organize your day!
Booking Time With Yourself
The best way to plan tasks into your week is to actually book time with yourself and block off the time. You can mark it as an appointment or just colour code it as a time when you are no longer free!
Then actually the most important thing that you have to do, is to actually do the task. There is no point spending time planning your week and then not doing any of the things that you have planned.
This is one area that causes the most fails, you must act upon your plan or you won’t reach your goals or complete your week!
