Let me introduce you to Abby’s new course: Impactful habit, Organized Home. I’ve been privileged to have a sneak peak at all of what this course offers and I’m truly amazed at how brilliantly Abby has put this course together and how amazing it is.
Abby teaches you to apply her techniques into your everyday life, she doesn’t tell you to buy loads of products either and that always impresses me with any organization course.
She does have some recommendations but normally after you have planned the space and you know what you need, the sizes and how it’s going to work in your home.
In my opinion, there is nothing worse than being told to buy more stuff when in all likelihood you need to get rid of stuff first.
The aim of the course is to help you get your home organized and to feel proud of your home and what you have.
Get your Home Organized
Abby’s idea is based on ‘weaving organization into the everyday’ and I think this is a perfect way to really highlight how important organizing is and how you do need to tackle things on a daily basis so you don’t forget that organization takes maintenance.
As with anything related to keeping a space looking good you have to make the time to actually tackle the space even after it’s organized to ensure that things don’t slip and head in the direction of being an unorganized space again.
Learning how to organize a space in your home takes a plan and an understanding of how that spaces needs to work with your family.
Organizing A Space In Your Home
This course focuses on 6 different projects that you can tackle around your home, first she gives instructions in a video format to help you work out what you need to do to tackle the area.
There is a workbook for each area which you can print off and use to help you organize and tackle that particular project.
Some of the projects come with supplemental videos to help you understand that you have to work within the limits of your home and that it might not be perfectly designed but you have to make the space you do have to work for you.
The Course Covers
The different projects you will tackle in the course are:
- Entryway
- Kitchen
- Clothing
- Bathroom
- Office
- Storage spaces
The idea is that there is enough information in tackling these 6 areas that you will have the skills to take on the rest of your home.
The one supplemental video that I found strange was folding a fitted sheet is allocated to the bathroom project.
Organizing Your Home And Where To Start
Often the most difficult aspect of organizing is working out where you need to start. This is important and I think it’s the main reason why Abby has chosen to focus on just 6 projects.
Obviously, there are so many different areas of your home, but by tackling these main areas it will help you to organize your home and help to find where you need to start too.
The style of teaching is a lot through video and showing you how to tackle a space. These first videos in the projects are slides and voice over type teaching and this allows Abby to dig deep into the area in question.
She tackles each area within her 3 r’s framework, rule, routine and roadblock which is a very useful concept.
She goes over a multitude of different scenarios to ensure that anyone who is watching the video will be fully aware of what they need to do to tackle the area in their own home.
Course Structure
There is a written section in each of the projects and this includes the downloads that are available.
One thing I didn’t like was at first finding the downloads, they aren’t easy to spot. But once you realise, they are at the top of the page it’s easy to download and print these off.
Each project’s printable will not only help you transform the space, but it is a valuable resource that you can adapt to the different situations around your home.
You can also listen to the video as the course has a recording in MP3 format so you can tackle your normal routine whilst listening to Abby’s wise words of wisdom.
Bonuses Offered With Course
In the bonus section of the course Abby has gone one step further and has created a set of printable labels in 3 different formats.
- Standard printable labels
- Suitable for the Silhouette machine
- SVG file for the Cricut machine
This is a great addition to any course as it allows the person taking the course to fully appreciate how important it is to label things. Not only is this aesthetically pleasing but it has a practical side too.
If something has a label it has a home, and this means it doesn’t need to be left lying around cluttering up a space it can be placed in its home so it’s safe and secure.
Creating Community
Abby has created a Facebook group to go along with this course and it really is a fabulous place to hang out with people who are looking for help and inspiration to take back control of their home.
Creating and being part of a community gives everyone taking the course a safe space where they can ask questions and dive deeper into the course and find the help and support, they need.
Inexpensive Home Organization Ideas
The aim of the course is to teach you ways to include organizing into your everyday life.
You begin to learn tips and tricks that Abby uses in her everyday life to help keep her family and her life organized and in control.
If you are struggling to work out how to organize your home then this course is going to be amazing for you, not only will you be able to organize these 6 different problem areas in your home but you should be able to take the information that you’ve learnt and apply it to the rest of your home.
When it comes to organizing your home, it doesn’t need to be an area that you need to spend a lot of money on. There are so many inexpensive home organization ideas that you can adapt to create that organized life you are searching for.
What I would have liked to have seen in the office organization section would be more detail or a complete section on paper in the home.
This isn’t covered in the course; it could perhaps have a course just for that which is why it’s not included in this course at all.
Abby Lawson of Just A Girl And Her Blog has brought out a new organizing course called Impactful Habits, Organized Home, she tackles 6 different projects around your home that she will help you to take control off.
If you want to learn more about Abby I recently wrote an article after asking Abby 15 questions I know you want the answer to.
The course teaches you to tackle each area in relation to the 3 r’s which are rule, routine and roadblock.
You begin to understand her process, and this helps to form routines within your day to incorporate organizing tips that will help you organize the spaces outside of the course teachings.
I highly recommend this course from Abby Lawson because it’s so practical and focused on getting real results in the homes of everyday people who are struggling to start the process of organizing because they feel overwhelmed and unable to work out where or how to even start the process of becoming organized.
