When you replace an item look for energy-efficient models and recycle the old appliance, it doesn’t have to end up in a landfill site.
- Consider alternative ways to reduce the energy that you use. Solar panels are reducing in price and they do work well. If you have a reasonable sized garden you might be able to consider the ground heating options that are available.
- Water is a precious commodity and often it is not treated with the respect it deserves. There are ways in which you can protect this by looking at ways in which you can reduce the amount you use as a family. This can also help in reducing your bills especially if you get a water meter installed. Reducing the amount of water you use and just empty down the drain, including taking baths. - There are even some great ways that you can ensure you use less electricity around your home. Keeping your windows sparkling clean will allow more light in your home meaning you won’t need to turn the lights on earlier than necessary. Cleaning the coils of your refrigerator regularly reduces the amount of energy needed to keep your fridge running, saving you money.
While it might seem like a lot of time or energy thinking about the different things that will reduce the costs for you, but at the same time help save the resources that the world has to offer for the future generations too.
