Tackle The To Do List

Some people like the ‘to do list’, while others think they are a nightmare. However you feel, a to do list might help if you feel you have been less than attentive to those annoying tasks around the home which you know need doing, but you just can’t find the energy or the enthusiasm to even start the task. A to do list is a great motivator, allowing you to visually see what you need to do and having the feeling of accomplishment when you can cross an item off the list.

How You Write Your To Do List

There is no right or wrong way to writing your list and with the different options available as to where you write your list makes the concept of creating that ‘to do list’ even easier. You are not restricted to a formal form that details your list, it is equally just as fine to create your list straight into your diary, and this is where I write mine, I make notes as to the tasks I need to complete and this keeps me on track. I have even add tasks I have completed, just so I can get the good feeling when you cross off the task. However, this isn’t your only option, you can choose a scrap of paper or have a printed form to keep note of the jobs that you want and need to do.

It is possible to keep your ‘to do list’ on your phone, there are plenty of apps that are available you can use to keep track of your list. There is even the option to create sticky notes on your computer which you can attach to your desktop so they are a visual reminder of the day’s planned activities. Choosing your app is personal; check out what the features are, if it is a paid for app, establish if there is an option you can check to just ensure you are going to use the app before you part with any money.

My to-do list is so long that it doesn’t have an end; it has an event horizon.

Using A To Do List To Help Motivate You

It is possible to use your ‘to do list’ to help motivate you to complete tasks. You don’t want more than 4 or 5 items on your list each day otherwise you will quickly find that you never complete your list, which makes you feel negative towards your list and will work against you. If there are more than this on your ‘to do list’ then consider creating a master list just so you don’t forget the other items you want to look at. It gives you permission to concentrate on the ones you have planned for the day and not worry about others. If you complete your list, you can always pick one-off the master list to complete. If you just really hate a task then choose this first to complete in the day; you can even set a timer to ensure that you don’t spend too long on the task. If you know you only intend to do something for 10 minutes then it might not seem as difficult to spend a short period getting a difficult task completed. You can use your to do list as a memory aid, it gives you permission to forget things because you know you have written it down and plan to do the task.
