Start Living Your Dreams
Don’t let distraction win! There are different things in our lives that can take over our time and distract us from doing the things that mean the most to us. It isn’t always easy to see the distractions as they happen, they can sneak into our lives.
Being aware of the potential dangers distraction has over achieving your goals is important, it can help you look for them and plan for these distractions not to take over the potential that you have in succeeding in life.
Some of the now common distractions that can prevent you from starting to live your dreams are:
- Social media, it is so easy being consumed on these platforms, connecting with family and friends or even reading an article or two. However, they are also great at distracting you from your current task.
- Television, this medium has been around for a while and there are so many programmes to choose from, it could be very easy sitting there night after night watching endless hours of TV and not paying any attention to your life and being able to focus on how to start living your dreams.
- Peer pressure is often a distraction if you let it win. It is great to have friends that want to spend time with you; however, if this is at the expense of your goals and dreams you have to look at what is your priority, you might want to change your goals so you have time to spend with friends as well as making time to complete your goals.
Getting Back On Track
I know it is tough to deal with a distraction and to move forward, I have been there! I have this fear of failing and yet I am often the problem, I don’t like the idea of something not being perfect and so I will self-sabotage with distraction techniques.
Why I do this to myself, it is purely because I’m scared of success, what happens if my dreams come true? I’m scared to find out so I put as much effort in to make sure there is something else I need to do that halts a project that could potentially increase my monthly income.
Why I do this is because I lack confidence in my own ability, I always assume I am not good enough, no one will want to listen to what I have to say.
However, it is important that you can bring back your focus to those goals, which you want to achieve; with the start of the new quarter pull together your plans and start heading again in the right direction.
Looking Back As Well As Forward
To succeed at your goals I have found that it is important that you are able to look forward as well as backwards. You need to know what works and what doesn’t and without this information, it is difficult to decide if something has the potential for success.
You might discover that you found something distracting due to a problem with your plans or you were unsure of the direction to take.
There is nothing wrong with looking at your goals and moving things around, after all, your goals are not set in stone.
It is important that you tackle any distraction, try to understand what it is that is distracting you and why you are allowing for the distraction, it can help with your future planning.
Looking at what has worked over these last 3 months is a great way to predict the future. It isn’t easy and predictions are only an indication, it is not a certainty, so if you have succeeded in one area there is no guarantee that this will happen in the second quarter.
Don’t forget to plan, without a plan you are just flapping about and not really focusing on the tasks that you need to complete. Planning is the key to being able to start living your dreams, check out this great planner if you are looking for inspiration on how to organize your days.
Heading Forward With My Dreams
I have had a fantastic start to the year with achieving most of my goals that I set myself this quarter, see my first article of the year here, How To Plan Your Goals And Start Living Your Dreams.
It means that all the planning that I have completed has worked, I have even smashed some goals that I never thought even remotely possible, but I decided to challenge myself and to push me even closer to start living my dreams.
What is amazing is the positive results I am seeing!
What this means for me is to set some challenging goals, ones that really make me sit back and think. They are the most difficult ones, but the ones that I get the most pleasure from when I see them coming true.
It has given me more confidence in my own abilities and this is important, it gives me a boost and this is positive in any situation.
I am in the process of finalizing my goals for the next 3 months. I am planning how I am going to succeed and move forward to my dreams. What is most encouraging and important for me is that I am at last seeing the effort from all the hard work that I have put into living my dreams.
Therefore, what I have found this month is to tackle distractions head-on, they are not going to take away from me my dreams and my desires in my life. I am living my dreams and each day they are growing bigger and better and I love it!
Don’t let your dreams slip by unfulfilled, it is possible to live the life that you want, you just have to focus and create a plan that takes you to the next level!
