Sometimes fall decorations seem to blur into the Halloween scene, they aren’t necessarily connected but with similar colours and the use of similar items, while you might not think somethings are necessarily Halloween, sometimes they’re interpreted as such. While Halloween is very popular, I do love the idea of the changing seasons and what they can bring into our lives and for me this means that somethings can add a touch of colour and understanding of the season rather than just meaning Halloween.
Fall Decorations And Children
So many ideas for fall do seem to follow the theme of being scary and involve Halloween, which there is nothing wrong with; however, there is a need for the lessons surrounding the changing of the seasons and what this can bring as well.
Making something that has meaning for the season, as well as teaching different skills and techniques, is important to encourage and see our children grow, which is why for me activities like this one, where you create a stained glass window in the shape of a pumpkin, so the light can shine through, is perfect. It teaches colour and shapes, cutting skills as well as discussions on the changes this season can bring.
The Other Messages Associated With Fall
There are other thoughts that surround us at this time of the year; it is time for harvesting crops and the preparations for the Christmas season begins. Bringing these aspects into our lives can and will have a positive impact, we are not just thinking about Halloween and the fun and festivities this time brings. But it makes us realize that this is a time for the end of the summer and the growing season, and that the hard work which many people put in during these previous summer months, so that many people have food over the winter period.
For me this activity to create a Pilgrim’s hat spoke to me of the different thoughts and concepts at this time of year. It’s a stunning decoration, which will spark up many conversations and discussions surrounding the Pilgrim’s; after all they are a part of history.
Creating Fall Decoration Art
One thing I am discovering is the concept that being creative doesn’t ever have to stop. I’m not the next Picasso, well I know I have no hope in developing my artistic side to that extent, however, I do still enjoy creating things. Why should I stop because my children have grown up? I know that some of the projects won’t be as much fun, who can beat play dough? However, I still like the idea of creating some homemade crafty ideas.
Therefore, for me, this pumpkin inspire design looks great and is simple to do too. It is something that can just add a touch of fall to any area that is difficult to transform with other items.
Therefore, this is just a reminder that fall decorations aren’t all about Halloween, there are other choices and designs, so have some fun decorating for fall.
